Traditional Warriors Martial Arts Association

The Traditional Warriors Martial Arts Association (TWMAA) was created by Sensei Jack Procter to incapsulate his three core arts of Aikido, Karate and Judo.

After 18 years of training under a different local association he decided to break away to fulfil his vision of teaching martial arts across the week for a living.  He set up the TWMAA in February 2017 and started teaching Shotokan Karate and Aikido from St Teath Primary school. Many of his students decided to move across with him to the new association, as they enjoyed his teaching style.

This change was an instant hit with any new students meaning the already busy Karate class grew even more. Tuesday's evening classes went from three sessions to four, with the already busy Pee Wee class splitting in to a 'Beginners' class and an 'Advanced'. This trend has continued with now 5 Shotokan Karate classes on a Tuesday evening.

Form September 2017, things stepped up again when the Warriors timetable spread across the week with more Karate classes on a Friday to meet the demand from the current students and new comers. Jack also opened up his first Judo club on a Thursday evening and a completely new class called 'Striking 101'.

The addition of the Judo classes meant, now the Traditional Warriors association were training all areas of martial arts. From striking to grappling to locks and floor work. Broadening the horizons of many students. Coupled with the multiple art membership books meaning all students were able to train all areas. The concept of Striking 101 is to take away the traditional aspects of the Gi (suit) and Kata (set form) which many find off putting but to teach people basics of striking from a Karate view point in a modern setting.

From here we look to build on our great foundations to become one of the best Dojos around by consistently looking to develop our standards, teachers, students and methods so that our arts never grow stale but evolve to deal with new influences.

The ethos of the 'Traditional Warriors' is to be a community where the common ground for people is martial arts and seeking to enrich oneself. While ensuring what is taught is not penned in by a ruleset but adaptable to all walks of combat and life.
