New Class - Strike

New

STRIKE class for ages 9 and up

Thursday evenings @ St Teath CP school

6:00-7:00pm Juniors (9-12years)

7:15-8:15pm Teens (13yrs plus)

.

What is STRIKE?

It's my version of mixed martial arts, combining the elements of Aikido, Judo and Karate along with aspects of other fighting styles.

.

How's it different to Aikido, Karate & Judo?

There's no Gi and no grading syllabus or belts.

In more traditional arts there is a set syllabus of techniques to learn in a specific order. Some enjoy this, others can find it limiting; plus grading for belts can put an element you may not wish to partake in.

.

What will you learn?

Various elements of fighting from striking to throwing to grappling both stood up and on the ground. Looking at the sporting and self defence aspects.

As well as being a confidence builder it's also a great way to get or stay fit while having fun.

.

Why haven't I just called it MMA?

Because I'm not an MMA coach. I've done classes of MMA and been to different martial arts while learning my traditional arts of Aikido, Judo and Karate but I've never been in a competitive MMA fight.

For me, it's a hobby and interest of how do the martial arts work together.

If you are looking for a full on MMA gym, there's plenty of good ones around where their coaches have far greater experience than myself (I'll happily point you in the right direction) but if you are looking to just try some mixed martial arts out as a hobby then this STRIKE class could be for you.
